I want to add on one of your great points. Fears, automatic negative thoughts, distorted core beliefs, defense mechanisms gone haywire, an over-reactive amygdala ... it can be very complicated.
But what's not so complicated is the brain's ability to re-wire itself using both internal and external stimuli - being pushed, being challenged, being loved, being nutured, being understood, being supported, being connected to a rigorous cardiovascular program, being on medication, being connected to a nutritional program ...
To Be Or Not To Be ... turns out to be one of the most important questions of all!
