A Startup CEO must be many things and if your goal is to attract investor capital or joint venture partners then your mastery of the key skills needs to be visible to those who would invest in you and your project.

To Startup CEO is very different than a small business owner or a manager. A startup CEO must ideate, motivate, and innovate.

Ideate - A Startup CEO must be a thought leader, you must prove the you have new ideas and that those ideas are at the forefront of your industry or niche.

Motivate - A Startup CEO must be a leader of teams. An effective CEO does not DO the work of the business, the CEO leads teams that get the work done in a timely and cost effective manner.

Innovate - A Startup CEO must be a product innovator. You not only need to have visionary ideas, you need to be able to express those ideas in innovative new products that can be sold at a profit.

It is the rare individual who is naturally good at all of these things and even if you are naturally good at these things, you must hone your skills to a sharp point if you are to attract high value investors, advisers, and joint venture partners. You must also hone your skills in public so that they can see your skills and your growth in action before they will invest or join your team.

How do you not only develop these key skills, but demonstrate them in a way that is attractive to investors and partners even if you are at very early stage?
