Blue Collar Coaching - Help when you need it

There are many times that everyone has felt overwhelmed, lost, out of control - pressure coming from all sides: Work, family obligations, mortgage payments, stretching finances, health challenges, marital strife.

And then, it’s as if some universal law of momentum kicks in. Like a dam, ready to burst, first a few leaks, then more, then holes, then cracks. You fix up one leak and two more spring forth. You fill a crack and six more need to be filled.

The harder you try, the farther back you get.

So “doing” isn’t necessarily the answer. The more you do … the more cracks you have to fill. The solution? It may be in how you look at things.

Gratitude
All too often, we are in search of something bigger and better – when it’s not really about something bigger and better. Why? Because going after bigger and better is an endless proposition – because bigger and better never ends.

Sit back, put your feet up and really think about all the people in your life and all the things you enjoy. Appreciate what you have and what comes into your life. Now how does this help you fill up those cracks and plug those holes? Appreciation changes your perspective on how wide or how large those cracks and holes really are.

Each night write down five things that you have appreciated through the course of your day. Each morning, set your mind to what you are going to appreciate and be grateful for. Write it out. Recite it. Read it out loud. Maybe during the course of the day, if something frustrating or difficult happens, whip out that appreciation or gratitude card and recite it to yourself again.

When that overwhelming feeling starts to come over you now you have a way of slowing down and getting grounded to the things that are positive in your life.

Notice how powerful this simple tool is.
